The State Championships got off to a slow start with the first race being abandoned due to race control issues. The second race was run successfully with the course flag appropriately displayed. This was good close racing, though Crag “Chinna” Black single-handedly cleaned everyone up crossing the finish line 5 minutes ahead of Panacea in 2nd place. The racing was pretty tight with only 2 minutes separating 2nd and 6th place. Day 2 (races 3 & 4) of the series was abandoned at the top mark of the first race as a squall went through and there was no further racing completed that day leaving Races 5 and 6 were successfully completed last weekend in mild conditions. Both Tandeka, skippered by Peter Roberts and Drambuie won a race each. It now leaves race 7 to determine the outcome to the series with the boys in Drambuie looking pretty strong. But it was not to be, with PANACEA getting through to snatch a win and the series - well done Nick.
